This collection of 9 stories by the Alabama author Brad Vice stirred intense responses upon its 2005 publication. Accused of plagiarism and forced to give up the Flannery O' Connor Award for Short Fiction, Vice's collection still earned praise and defense from a number of prominent authors who saw, in its portrayals of the South, something of importance.
